Dr. Blair was a pre-eminent orthopaedic surgeon who treated countless people in his practice in Ontario over many years.
He first became involved in international work in 1983 with “Orthopaedic Overseas” in Malawi in 1983. Next he did a number of trips with CARE treating people in impoverished nations.
In 1985 Malawi Orthopaedic Assistance Training Project (MOAP) was formed initially with funding from St. Catharines and Kitchener area Rotary Clubs, Rotary International and the Government of Canada (CIDA). Dr. Blair spent 10 years in Malawi and during this time treated countless patients there who essentially had little medical care, let alone orthopaedics.
His efforts are ongoing as he established a program where he trained numerous para-orthopaedic’s to perform surgeries etc who treated patients throughout the country on their own. Dr Blair’s work also saw him visit much of Central America, North Africa, and parts of Europe including Slovenia.
