On
May 5, 2000 the Mobile Blood Collection Unit for the City of Delhi
in Rotary District 3010 was inaugurated by the former Chief Justice
of the Supreme Court, J.S. Verma, the current Chairman of the Federal
Human Rights Commission of India, in a ceremony that was attended
by the Federal Health Minister and over 500 Rotarians and other dignitaries.
The mobile blood collection unit, known as the Bloodmobile, will travel
throughout the cities of Delhi and New Delhi to schools, colleges,
universities, factories, businesses and institutions to encourage
voluntary blood donations. All Clubs in District 3010 have access
to the Bloodmobile and schedule blood donation camps in their club
localities. The Bloodmobile was made possible from funds raised by
Clubs in District 3010 and 7090 by a Rotary International Foundation
Matching Grant totalling $ 47 775. U.S.
Past DG Roger Allan was the Project Contact and driving force behind
the fund raising from seven Clubs in our District.
