Rotary TV Auction Kick-off
Liz Palmieri introduced Nancy Ferris-Hostick as our new Auction Chair, and Sam Walters as our new Canvass Chair. She urged us to do our best to support them.
Nancy announced that this is our 25 th TV Auction, being held this year on November 25, 26 and 27. She introduced her advisory team.
She outlined a brief history, pointing our that our first Auction was in 1981, and was planned under the Presidency of Ray Bukovec with Maclean Hunter Cable TV's Roger Segalin. We raised $16,500.
She announced that our goal this year is $165,000 and 1,100 items.
Sam Walters then came forward with a flip chart and a lot of enthusiasm. He presented his seven-week schedule showing us how to collect 200 items every week. He pointed out that we have hockey tickets available this year unlike last year. He reminded us of the items that bring in the most money. He also suggested that if you don't want to canvass, you could certainly make a personal cash donation to the Auction. Sam thanked the Rotarians who have agreed to be team leaders. Once again, John Potts has generously offered to provide lunch to the winning team.
