Today's meeting began in the usual fashion with Bill Orr saying grace. O Canada was started by Rick Evans, followed by the customary toast to Her Majesty the Queen and Canada.
President Larry introduced the head table as follows: Eugene Gillies, Ron Fast, President Larry Iggulden, Jim Denham and Heather Combe. Heather introduced the following guests: Terry Keller guest of Rick Merrit, Ian Ellingham guest of John Crossingham, and John Burroughs guest of Eugene Gillies.
Today's member in the spotlight was Peter Banwell. Unfortunately Peter has been unable to attend meetings while recovering from a stroke suffered on February 4, 2005. Barb reports that Peter's recovery is progressing well and he will hopefully be able to attend a meeting in the New Year. Peter was introduced to our club in 1976. He was the club president in 1995-96 and a Paul Harris Award recipient in 1996. Peter is a lawyer by vocation; he is married to Barb and has three children and many grandchildren. Peter is sadly missed and is in the thoughts of all members. We can't wait to hear all those jokes you must be working on.
Birthdays:
Ian Ladd celebrated his birthday today.

Sam Walters and Peggy Davidson conducted an impromptu auction to get rid of a few items not claimed from our TV auction. They did such a great job that Peggy might be working the auction desk for the entire length of next year's auction.

The tourism board of Jamaica has informed me that upon Norm's departed there was a shortage of small cocktail umbrellas.
